The day you have been working towards has finally arrived! Your braces are OFF—what a wonderful, “slimy” feeling!  This is when we usually hear our patients ask about whitening their teeth. Dr. Nett recommends speaking with your family dentist regarding their whitening recommendations or try  an over-the-counter whitening product such as Crest Whitening Strips. Read and follow the directions on the label.         

Unfortunately, whitening is not a one-time solution. It will need to be repeated periodically if you want to maintain the new, brighter color. There are a few things you can do to maintain the new color.

Avoid smoking  

Avoid drinking coffee, tea, colas or red wine (brush or rinse   immediately after consuming)

Limit eating pigmented foods such as cherries and blueberries

Use a whitening toothpaste to remove surface stains and prevent yellowing
